25 Years! What?

As I was praying this morning, talking to God about His promises and how I believe He is true to fulfill them, He reminded me of Abraham and Sarah. God promised them a lineage. I'm sure they were ecstatic when they received this word. Just imagine their hope every day, even though Sarah was past childbearing age and Abraham was very old. They might have thought, "This might be the day." How many days or years did it take before Sarah didn't believe anymore and took matters into her own hands because she couldn't keep trusting God to fulfill His promise? Regardless of Sarah's unbelief, God still gave them a son. 25 years of waiting before the promise came to pass.

I'm not here to condemn anyone, because I have my own struggles with staying in faith to believe God's promises. However, can we discuss what God was speaking to me? My friends, 25 years is a long time to wait for a promise and most of us are like Sarah, we decide to move forward with our own plan. Did you know that God can't lie and that He has to fulfill His promises? I have heard every excuse in the book as to why God didn't do this or that, even though He said He would, such as God didn't heal me, or God didn't heal that person or God let this happen or that happen. I don't have answers to every question, not even my own, but I do know that God requires trust and faith in Him and His Word. How long will it take for God to heal me? I don't' know, maybe 25 years. Can I trust Him that long? You see, doctors can't heal me. They can pump me full of chemicals, but they can't heal my issue.

I know I've talked a lot about healing lately, but it's because we need to understand what the Word says and the words and actions of Jesus. He isn't any different today than when He was walking the earth healing the sick. In fact, He healed everyone who came to Him for healing. How do we get around that? The Word says that 'by His stripes we are healed.' Jesus was fulfilling that promise in His day and commanded that we do the same. So, what do we believe and how do we wait? Again, this is not brought in condemnation but as an encouragement to think about the waiting time and God's faithfulness. My prayer is that God will teach us to be patient and wait on Him. Blessings.
