That One Thing

There is a passage in Mark where Jesus addresses a very important subject. He keeps bringing
me back to the following verses:
So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever
says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart,
but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I
say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will
have them." Mark 11:22-24
This is not a name it and claim it session. This is a proclamation from the mouth of Jesus. He
goes on to say that we should not harbor unforgiveness, for it is disobedience against God's law and prayers will be hindered.
I know a lot of people who pray. Most pray in hope that their prayers will be answered.
However, Jesus tells us to pray in faith, believing that we receive what we ask for. If we pray in
this manner, then we pray without doubting. If we pray hoping God hears our prayers and
hoping He will answer, we are not praying according to Jesus's directive. Doubt can't be present
if faith is to prosper.
Jesus gives us a simple truth here. It isn't complicated. The problem is unbelief. If you look at
the ministry of Jesus, the biggest issued He faced was unbelief in the people. In this passage
Jesus is speaking to His disciples, not sinners. This directive is for His followers.
My encouragement for you today is to begin living and praying in faith. Believe that you receive
what you ask for. I am not a theologian, which is okay, but I am able to read and believe the
scriptures. If our hearts are pure before God, we have the green light to go before the throne of
grace and ask God for what we need. Ask and believe you have what you've asked for. What is
that one thing that must be present when we pray? Jesus said it is faith in God; not faith in
people or our own abilities, but faith in God.
I will say that your decision to have faith will be met with opposition from the enemy. He will
use every mental weapon he can conjure up to remind you of your mistakes and failings. Don't
fall for it. Remember that the blood of Jesus, and that alone makes you righteous. May today
find you full of faith in the One who can and will do the impossible. Blessings.
